NEW BEGINNINGS - What an exciting time for the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra! We are delighted to have you join us as we embark on a new era at the CWSO. As the principal horn player of the CWSO, I jumped at the opportunity to fill the role as Interim Music Director, succeeding Dr. Patrick Miles. I have first-hand knowledge of the tremendous caliber and personality of the ensemble from my perspective from the back of the stage.
As I worked to compile the music and artists to present to you in our 71st concert season, I wanted to emphasize the unique role that the CWSO plays within the artistic community of Central Wisconsin. Our region is incredibly rich in talent and has a deep passion for the arts. Our concert season is based on the theme of "CommUNITY" - using music to unite and bond our community.
Our opening concert in October will feature two of the most powerful works in the orchestral repertoire - Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor featuring Dr. Molly Roseman from UWSP and Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 in D Minor. In December, celebrate the joy of family and the holidays as we perform the live soundtrack score to the beloved animated film The Snowman and some of your favorite holiday classics with soprano Desiree Wattelet. February will bring the Midwest premiere of Zhou Tian's Transcend, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. Our season of community ends in April with a powerful "Ode to Unity" - Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, "Choral" - combining the CWSO with both the Monteverdi Chorale and Wausau Lyric Choir. It will truly show the power of music to bring Central Wisconsin together!
You won't want to miss this exciting season of music and commUNITY!
