Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra will perform its Dorothy Vetter Memorial Education Concerts for fourth grade students on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Sentry Theater in Stevens Point. This year’s program, The Orchestra Moves, features the Link Up Curriculum from Carnegie Hall in an exploration of the many ways music creates a sense of movement. Students will experience music of Beethoven, Bizet, Strauss and more in this participatory concert experience.
Online registration for the Vetter Concerts will be available here in early September. Teachers participating in the Link Up program are strongly encouraged to attend the CWSO's professional development workshop. This workshop is an opportunity to become more familiar with the curriculum of The Orchestra Moves and share best practices with other educators.
Through the Vetter Concerts, the CWSO seeks to make music performance accessible to all children in the community, regardless of socio-economic situation or parental involvement, and to encourage student participation in their school instrumental music programs. We believe that experiences like our Dorothy Vetter Memorial Education concerts will complement and enhance the arts education provided to students in our community. When students become involved in the arts, so do their parents and families, creating more engaged citizens and enriching the community.
Lead support for Link Up is provided by the Fund II Foundation. Additional funding for Link Up is provided by The Ambrose Monell Foundation and The Barker Welfare Foundation.
